Well club member Des and I decided to go to the Birmingham Exhibition Centre for the Photography show and with the car park costing £12 we decided the best way to go was in Dr Who's box, well a similar one lol

Image

After a walk around we had a quick spin around the cafes at the back

Image

And after covering the whole hall we didn't want to hover around any longer. That little hover machine in the picture with the white lights can carry a camera the size of my phone battery lol

Image

So after a morning there we took our leave

Image

and headed down the motorway, Des on seeing the Stratford upon Avon sign, said, "do you fancy a visit"

Image

Well with the use of one of his cameras, how could I refuse lol, the first thing I captured was this heavy escorted load, only to watch it scrap a gouge out of the Avon's bridge. I think caused by the wheels being too low either side of the humped bridge

Image

So here we were at peaceful Stratford hidden amongst the Japanese tourists lol

Image

this boat seemed to carry the colours of a pullman carriage which i had in a model train set of the fifties lol

Image

The avon with swans

Image

what's this a pleasure cruiser coming in

Image

may have been a noisy cruise lol they seem to be enjoying it

Image

the person working the lock had a job keeping out the swans as they wanted to go in as well

Image

a more quieter picture

Image

step one foot closer to me delboy and see what happens :o

Image

this bird looks a bit more placid

Image

This building was opposite the National Theatre and being refurbished inside

Image

Then after a walk we came across this alley which turned out the entrance to a museum

Image

plenty of character in the buildings

Image

including this one lol

Image

I see they have an organised ghost tour, funny I think York have one too, must be to do with old buildings lol

Image

Image

Image

so back out on the main street

Image

Some of the tourists outside the Garrick Inn lol

Image

Image

apparently built in the 1400s the Garrick is the oldest inn in Stratford and the sign may look like this if you have had too much to drink lol

Image

some of the carvings can be quite interesting just a selection

Image

Image

a few cafe's around here

Image

Down by the river, I captured this couple lol

Image

and the road leading down to the theatre there are many many lamp posts donated from other cities in the UK plus other countries like this one given by Israel

Image

this is the statue of Hermaphroditus positioned at the end of the canal

Image

According to Ovid, he was the son of Aphrodite and Hermes born a remarkably handsome boy with whom the water nymph Salmacis fell in love with, not sure whether this is the canal connection lol

Image

but a good day out
